BNB puts into circulation gold commemorative

coins ‘Virgin Mary – Golden Apple’

From 2 January 2024, the Bulgarian National Bank will issue gold commemorative coins on the theme ‘Virgin Mary – Golden Apple’ that come in denominations of BGN 10, BGN 20, BGN 50 and BGN 100, which have unlimited mintage.

Upon entering circulation, the coins will be sold at the following prices:

BGN 1438 (one thousand four hundred and thirty eight) for the BGN 10 coin;

BGN 2611 (two thousand six hundred and eleven) for the BGN 20 coin;

BGN 3823 (three thousand eight hundred and twenty three) for the BGN 50 coin; and

BGN 5057 (five thousand and fifty seven) for the BGN 100 coin.

The Bulgarian National Bank will be selling the coins at two counters in Sofia, 1, Knyaz Alexander I Square, and at four counters at the BNB Cash Centre in Sofia, 10, Mihail Tenev Str.

In the period from 2 through 4 January 2024, every client may purchase up to 2 coins of each type at the Bulgarian National Bank, and after that period the commemorative coins ‘Virgin Mary – Golden Apple’ will be sold without restrictions. If a client, as a natural person, purchases a certain type of coin between 2 and 4 January 2024 at the BNB counters, during this period that client may not purchase more coins of the same type as a representative of a legal entity, and this restriction applies to the opposite case as well.

When buying a coin on behalf and for the account of another person, the client must present a notarised power of attorney issued exclusively for the purchase of the specific type of commemorative coin.

Coins may not be purchased by persons who are under 18 years of age.

By the end of the business day on 2 January 2024, the BNB will provide quantities of the new coins to First Investment Bank AD, Texim Bank AD, Tokuda AD and Central Cooperative Bank AD, for sale in their offices and branches.

The above banks will be selling the coins in the offices and branches on the following list.
